Happy Birthday My Love ๐Ÿ’•

On the 17th December 2016 a little girl was born… She was born to mummy Trish and daddy Nando in a lovely home in Nantwich, Cheshire. She lived here and was cared for by Alison and her lovely family for 9 weeks.

On the 21st February 2016, I was introduced to this little girl and instantly fell in love with her. Her name was Nellie, a beautiful black cockapoo.

So on the 23rd February, through the horrendous winds, closed motorways and endless traffic I set on my way to pick this bundle of joy up from her mummy and daddy. She was coming to live in her forever home.

The first couple of weeks were eventful, with us both getting to know each other. From the toilet training and falling asleep in my arms to the cuddles, kisses and laughs. Moments that I will never forget…

Having never owned a dog, I had to very quickly learn about puppies and their ways. Starting with them being sick every other day, closely followed by their eating habits (or more lack of eating with Nellie) and finally not to panic every 2 minutes about every noise they make (9/10 times I ended up on the phone to the vet!)

The first 3 weeks flew by, Nellie in this time had had her injections and now was allowed out in public places. This was going to be dangerous, as the world was now our oyster!

Over the next few months we went on many adventures visiting new places and explored lots of new places to walk…

Easter was the first holiday we shared together…

We went to the hairdressers together…

Nellies first frozen yoghurt… as you can see, she loved it…

Nellie very quickly chose her spot in the house, it was looking out the window on to the canal watching the world (and the ducks) go by.

She was fast approaching 6 months old and I had already booked her in for the dreaded ‘s’ word. That’s right, she was being spayed… not a day I’d like to repeat anytime soon!

Feeling very sorry for herself on the evening after the operation my little Nel soon got herself together and she was back to normal, being her usual mischievous self!

Including eating 2 of her cones!! Nellie was definitely not keen on the new look!

Nellie got over the operation very quickly and once she was signed off by the vet we were back to our adventures!

Nellie went back to playing the garden and meeting up with friends…

It felt like time had gone so quickly as it was all of a sudden, Nellies last puppy play… time flies so quickly when you are experiencing new things…

After her operation, the next big milestone in Nellies life was her first hair cut. I knew exactly who I was going to take Nellie to, somebody who would look after her as if she was her own, Chelsea at Prestige Paws.

Chelsea made a great job of Nellies first haircut and really looked after her. She looked super cute with the little bow tie too.

Nellie has been coming to work with me since she was able to come out of the house. She likes to help me where she can, in this picture she was having a little rest after squashing all the paper down from when I was stripping walls.

I then had to say goodbye to this little bundle of joy for a very long 3 week trip I needed to take to Portugal.

I was very lucky that I stumbled across Brian Collier. A dog walker and sitter with a fantastic reputation. Nellie stayed with Brian for just under 3 weeks and had an amazing time including exploring Brian’s extensive garden. She helped him with some gardening, and she got to meet lots of new friends.

Whilst in Portugal I made a big decision, that I was going to move to Portugal for the winter. So the decision was made, the date was set and the route was planned…

Halloween went as fast as it came… We had less than 3 weeks to prepare for our move.

We said our goodbyes, packed up the car and off we went on a 5 day journey. Stopping in France and Spain along the way.

Having survived the epic journey we arrived to our new home and met Charlie, Nellies new friend or should I say best friend…

…3 weeks on and they are completely inseparable, even giving each other a kiss goodnight…

It was the first time both Nellie and Charlie have had advent calendars. They are stuffed with some lovely treats to share each day.

Which brings us to now, Nellie in her new spot, still next to the window but now with a different view and a lot more sunshine…

So here’s to Nellie, my love, my life and most of all my beautiful baby… Happy 1st Birthday sweetheart x
