Last August I took on an incredible project to transform what was going to be my new home. The location was fantastic however the house was very dated and in need of a big facelift. A full rewire, a new heating system, two new bathrooms, a new kitchen and full decoration throughout the house, my work was cut out! However the challenge was set and I loved every second of it, so much so it is now my full time career.
So what did I do? The living room was very dark from shutters covering the beautiful arch window looking onto the canal. Taking out the shutters and white washing the room, gave it the light that it needed. I chose minimalistic furniture in white to create a chic look and then added a statement sofa as the focal point of the room. I decided to create a feature of the wine rack as the room is very much created for entertaining.
The kitchen was also very dark and cluttered so I wanted to strip it back to the brick and start again. I chose a white high gloss kitchen with white granite and tiles to create as much light as possible as I wanted to make the space feel clean and airy. I accessorised the room with silver appliances to reflect the light. I have since added in a small herb garden to add a little bit of greenery to the stark white background.
The transformation of the ensuite was by far my favourite with space being completely transformed to create a larger main bathroom and a more convenient ensuite. I love the subtle lilac, statement mirror and huge shower (perfect for washing Nellie).
Who would have thought that this time last year I would have had the career change that I have had? I have fallen in love with creating homes from houses. Project 2 is well underway and I will share the results very soon!
